Winnie Kwan SHUPER, Co-Founder & Director

Winnie was born and raised in a less-privileged household in Hong Kong.  She attended Maryknoll Convent School in Kowloon, where she learned the importance of giving and serving the community. With the support of generous donors, Winnie obtained scholarships that enabled her to attend the United World College of the Atlantic (UWC) in the U.K., followed by Trinity College at the University of Cambridge. Winnie feels strongly about benefiting future generations with a chance to receive quality education, build self esteem and develop a positive attitude to life. She is a Fund Manager at The Capital Group Companies, where she chairs the organization's Emerging Market Charity Grant Committee.

Cheng-Yi TONG, Director of Operations

Cheng-Yi is long time friend of the Shuper family who believes education is the foundation of change and opportunity.  She grew up in Malaysia in a family that sacrificed much to ensure their children received a good education.  Her family believed education brought understanding and opportunity, not only for ourselves but also for humanity.  Prior to joining Sprouts she was a banker, an entrepreneur and a retailer. She also served as the Treasurer for Lifeline Shanghai, an NGO in that city. She recently returned to calling Hong Kong home, having worked and lived in Canada, the US, Japan and China and traveled widely in Asia in previous roles.  Cheng-Yi also graduated from the Ivey Business School at Western University in London, Canada.
